In the last blog I spoke about what I have been doing to support my own skin.
A huge part of my philosophy around the skin comes back to supporting your skin from the inside, so it’s no surprise that food is a huge part of healing the skin for me.
When supporting hormonal acne, I like to focus on meals that include quality protein, fibre-rich foods and plenty of colourful plant foods. These nutrients help support gut health, blood sugar balance and overall skin health. While there’s no one-size-fits-all diet for acne, these are some of the simple meals I’ve been enjoying lately.
Here are some of my favourite meals I’ve had on repeat:
Breakfasts:
Scrambled eggs (3 eggs) with dense bean salad.
Boiled egg, Beef mince rissole (homemade with onion for prebiotic fibre) and dense bean salad
Beef mince rissoles with side salad
Lamb kofta, scrambled egg, rocket mix topped with lemon juice,½ piece of lebanese bread
Snacks:
Mixed berries (buying frozen is a much cheaper option)
Carrot & Cucumber
BBQ chicken
Banana
Nuts – good to have with fruit for a little bit of protein for blood sugar regulation
Dark chocolate – my favourite is the himalayan salt one from Woolies. This really hits the spot for my dessert cravings of a night
Lunch/Dinner:
Burrito bowl – beans, mince, capsicum, lettuce, tomato with rice
BBQ chicken with dense bean salad (if I haven’t already eaten it for breakfast)
Red lentil & rice dish with chicken
Beef stir fry with veges
Chicken protein pasta salad
Steak & veges
I hope this list gives you some ideas on foods that are easy to prep & eat to help you on your own skin journey.
I’ll be sharing these recipes over time on my substack, feel free to follow along here.
